If you're unsure about where you want to watch Martin Scorsese's film adaptation, you'll probably want to read the book first. This is a taut psychological thriller. Allusions to this being like a roller-coaster ride might be well founded, but I'm more inclined to compare it to the carnival funhouse--warped mirrors and things that leap out of the darkness. There's one aspect that felt far-fetched, but getting into specifics would spoil the novel. This is definitely worth reading, and I'm even more curious about Scorsese's interpretation now.
